De voordelen van laserlassen ten opzichte van booglassen
Laserlassen is een uiterst nauwkeurige, snelle en energiezuinige lastechniek.
Er is geen instrument dat zo veelzijdig kan worden gebruikt als de laser. Hiermee kunnen zeer snel fijne laspunten met een diameter van 0,1 mm worden gecreëerd, evenals diepe lasnaden van enkele meters lang. Met minimale vervorming kunnen zeer fijne naadgeometrieën met een grote diepte-breedteverhouding worden gecreëerd. Lasers lassen materialen met een hoge smelttemperatuur, evenals andere met een hoge thermische geleidbaarheid. Dankzij hun verminderde smeltsterkte en eenvoudig regelbare korte smelttijd kunnen ze zelfs materialen verbinden die anders niet of slechts moeilijk te lassen zijn. Indien nodig kunnen aanvullende materialen worden gebruikt. Productontwerpers en procesingenieurs die laserlassen beschouwen als een alternatief voor meer conventionele soorten lassen, zoals MIG-MAG en/en TIG-booglassen, zullen merken dat elk zijn plus- en minpunten heeft. Maar voor de meeste toepassingen is laserlassen een schonere, preciezere en meer gecontroleerde manier van lassen en is vooral veel sneller en beter controleerbaar.

What Metals can be Successfully Welded with Fiber Lasers?
Lasers can weld many different types of materials together. Stainless steel, titanium,nickel, aluminum, molybdenum, and Inconel are just a few of the metals that are
well-suited to laser welding. What is important to note, however, is that not all metal combinations are weldable.
Aluminum, for example, can be laser welded. However,only dissimilar grades of aluminum can be welded together due to a high probability of cracking.
This is one area where laser welding differs from conventional welding. In conventional welding, the metals don’t bond directly with one another, but rather with the filler material being used. This can be a major factor in determining whether or not a particular application lends itself to laser welding.
